Clean and Simple Butterfly

Here is another card that I made thanks to some inspiration from the Clean and Simple challenge on splitcoast. I am really enjoying making cards with a white background. Not only does it simplify the look of the card, but also it makes it easier to read what is on the inside.

This card uses the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set. I love Melon Mambo with Basic Black (I bet you have already figured this out). The polka dot paper is from the Melon Mambo Patterns Designer Series Paper. I added a bit of black gingham ribbon to finish off the card.

Circle Circus Flowers

I came up with this card for another Clean & Simple challenge. This challenge was to make a card that was inspired by another. The sample was very similar, just used different stamps. I couldn't think of any 2-Step Stamps that were current, so I turned the circle circus stamps into flowers.

I used Teeny Tiny Wishes for the greeting and Circle Circus for the flowers. Colors are Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo, and Basic Black. The card measures 4-3/4" square.

Crazy for Cupcakes

Here's another card that I made today that was inspired by the Clean and Simple challenge on splitcoast. This fit with the challenge to make a clean and simple birthday card. I think this has a clean look, but it wasn't as simple as others because it uses a few strips of designer series paper and the stamp requires coloring too. It was still pretty easy to make.

I used the Crazy for Cupcakes set and colored it with Stampin' Write markers. If I had it to do again, I may switch the icing to yellow, green just doesn't seem quite right (but I wanted to stick with just purple & green). Colors are old olive, certainly celery, orchid opulence, and rich razzleberry which all match the Cottage Wall DSP. I love how the SU! catalog tells you which colors match the designer series paper.

Summer Stars

I participated inone of the Clean and Simple card challenges on splitcoast today. I love the idea of fast and easy cards that still look nice. I think sometimes we get bogged down in making our cards detailed and fancy, so it is nice to think SIMPLE! After all, it is just a card!

The challenge was to make a simple card using yellow, orange, and turquoise. One of their definitions of clean and simple is a lot of white space. So, here is my card. I stamped the verse from Heard from the Heart and used SU's small star and 1-1/4" square punches. Fast and fun!!!

Falling Leaves Sketch Challenge Card

Here is another card that I made with the sketch challenge in mind (the same sketch that inspired the butterfly card I posted yesterday). I love how you can take the same layout, but switch up the colors and stamps and come away with a completely different look. You don't have to reinvent the wheel twice!

This card uses 3 colors--all new In Colors--Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, and Soft Suede. They go perfect with the new Falling Leaves stamp set for a great Fall look. I love the square punches too--they make this card go quick and easy.

In Color Butterflies

I decided to get some new inspiration for some cards, so I went over to splitcoast and checked out the current challenges. This is the first time that I have participated in one of the challenges, but it is great fun and it helps inspire me, so I think I'll try to do some challenge each week. The challenge I did was today's Sketch Challenge. They show a sketch of a card and then you make what you want. Today's sketch had the 3 squares offset from the center and then mounted on a strip (like I did on my card). So fun!

I used the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set, one that I've had for a year, but really haven't used much. I just got Stampin' Up!'s butterfly punch, which fits this set, so I think I'll be using it a lot more now. It is so fun to play with new toys! I used the butterfly punch, the 1-1/4" square punch, and the 1-3/8" square punch. The butterflies are stamped in Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, and Bermuda Bay--all 3 are new In Colors. The paper is Bashful Blue, Gable Green, Pretty in Pink, and Barely Banana (with some white & black). I tied the black gingham ribbon around the card to finish it off. What do you think of my first attempt at a sketch challenge?

New Big Shot Die!

My new big shot die came this week. It is the Fancy Favor Bigz XL die. I think I will find a lot of uses for it. The size is great--a lot of the other big shot boxes seem on the small end, but this would be a great party favor, treat bag, nut cup, basket box, etc. I'll have to see what I can come up with in the future.

I used the new Autumn Traditions designer series paper to make the bag/box. I used the wide oval and horizonal slot punch for the tag. The stamp is from one of this year's hostess sets--Holiday Best. The ink and ribbon used are Dusty Durango--another of this year's in colors--perfect for Fall!

Finally--more cards!!!

I did it! I finally stamped again! It has been a week or two since I sat down to make a card. My Open House kept me busy, then I decided to make a quilt, so sewing has used my free time lately. Sorry that I haven't updated this blog. I have several cards, so keep checking back!

This card was inspired by a card by Patty Bennett (another SU! Demonstrator). I love the Flower Folds die for my Big Shot. The day I got it I cut a bunch of flowers with my Melon Mambo Patterns Designer Series Paper, so I keep picking them up and adding them to my projects. This is a super easy card to make! I used the scallop edge punch along the black card stock, added some of my favorite polka dot ribbon, and stamped the Thank You from the Wow Flowers set (I think this is the first time I've ever used the set--and now I love it)! The Thank You is punched out with the 1-1/4" punch and layered on circle punched in black with the 1-3/8" punch. I LOVE punches!!! What did I ever do before I bought so many punches from Stampin' Up!? The flower has a few dimensionals behind it to make it pop up.

Flower Folds card

Here is a fast card to make. I used the flower folds and the square scallop dies for my Big Shot machine. I punched a white circle for the middle of the flower with the 1" circle punch. The only stamp I used was the Thinking of You from the Sincere Salutation stamp set. I love the flower folds die with the Melon Mambo prints DSP.

Double Big Shot Box

Here is an idea that I had for display at my Open House. It is a mini tote / double box / whatever you want to call it. I used the Box #2 die for the Big Shot and cut 2 of them. Then glue them together and instead of folding the lids down, keep them straight up and then punch a hole with the oval punch to make a handle. I used some Melon Mambo DSP to wrap around the base which helped cover the seam where they were glued together. The flower was made with the Flower Folds die and the middle of the flower was punched with the 1" circle punch. I was inspired by Julie Davidson (another SU demo) for this project. I love how it is quick and easy and something fun!

Open House Make-n-Take Card #2

Here is the second make-n-take from the Open House. It features the new Paradise stamp set along with Bermuda Bay (my second favorite new In Color) and Gable Green and Green Galore. The sentiment is from the new Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

Open House Make-n-Take Card

I held my annual Stampin' Up! Open House last night and today. We had a great time. This is the first of two make-n-takes that we did.

This is a 3x3 mini card (Stampin' Up! sells envelopes that fit this size) and it was a quick and easy card. You can get 8 cards this size out of one 12x12 sheet of card stock. I used Melon Mambo (my FAVORITE new In Color) along with Gable Green. The bird is from the Cheep Talk stamp set and we punched it with the 1-1/4" square punch and layered it on a Gable Green square punched with the scallop square punch. The Designer Series Paper is the Melon Mambo Patterns collection and it is cut 3/4" tall for this card.

Falling Leaves

This card features the new Falling Leaves stamp set. I love the new Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper. It is hard to tell from this photo, but the strip that I used on this card is green with purple and white dots. The card stock is Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Elegant Eggplant, and Whisper White. Ink is Elegant Eggplant and Old Olive. Ribbon is Elegant Eggplant. I used the 1", 1-1/4", and 1-3/8" circle punches and the larges is punched through the front of the card with the others mounted inside the card.

Another Day in Paradise

Here is another card made with the new Paradise stamp set. I used Bermuda Bay (new In Color), Tempting Turquoise, Gable Green, and Basic Black. The card is pretty self explanatory.

Grateful Leaves

Here is another card that uses a brand new stamp set. Featured here is the Falling Leaves stamp set. Does the card layout look familiar? Check out my June posts and you'll see why. I love how you can change the stamps but leave the colors and layout and get a very different look! I used Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, Old Olive, and Creamy Caramel. Punches are the scallop oval and the scallop edge punch. Another simple but fun card.

Paradise

These stamps are in the new Paradise stamp set that debuted in the 2009-2010 Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog. I'd say that this is on my top 5 list of new stamp sets--it reminds me of warm, tropical places! I used Gable Green, Green Galore, and Bermuda Bay (one of the new In Colors). I LOVE the In Color polka dot ribbon!!!
